ABOUT UWRITESPORTS

~The History~
In 2002 founding members Barry Roos, and Pete Chabot were riding the commuter rail into Boston. They discussed the local sports scene and what they had read in the morning papers. They wondered aloud, wouldn't it be cool if we were the sports writers? They critiqued the local scribes daily and thought, hey we can do that....and better. Of course those two would knock, sliced bread, the invention of the telephone, and most other things.

Roos, a web developer, went to work developing the site, where people could try their hand as sports writing. The motto of the site would be, "Where Everyone can be a Sports Writer".

The other two founding members Peter Caplan, and Dave Yas soon came on board, and the 4 published articles the second week in June, 2002. UWriteSports was born!! Other members joined up and the database grew full of articles. The Columnist Club was then developed to showcase writers and provide a living resume of writers' work.

~The Concept~
Most of us eagerly read the sports section each day, wishing we could have a job covering sports.Some among us feel that we could do the job, and better than the pros. But how do we get started? This is where UWriteSports comes in. UWriteSports.com is the place where potential sports writers hone their skills. Join today, and begin your career as a sports writer. For as little as $3/month you can show the world, YES I AM A SPORTS WRITER. We can't give you the talent, but we can give you the forum and a way to showcase your skills. When you build up a resume of articles, you can send a potential employer to read your work online.

~Where are we now, where are we headed?~
Nearly 6 years later, the site now has over 73,000 visitors a year and continues to grow. Our vision is to continue to grow the site and begin recruiting new members with varied interests. New club members are always welcome, and can join here.

Although we don't accept non-member articles, we will publish a story if it is really special (most aren't, trust us).
