| Barbaro | Barry Roos | This week's UWS Athlete of the Week goes to Barbaro. The colt remained undefeated with a 6 1/2 length score in The Kentucky Derby Saturday.
The question, can he do what no horse has been able to do since Affirmed in 1978, win the Triple Crown?
He is a very fresh horse and seems to have a shot. But how many times have we heard that?
In human terms, he would need the talent of say, 1 million Pete Chabots.

Albert Pujols | Barry Roos | Pronounced: POO-holes
I don't know why but that seems funny to me.
But there is nothing funny about what this 26 year old is doing on the field. He already has 12 homeruns, 28 RBIs and a slugging PCT of .969 this year.
When you watch him swing the bat, it is a thing of beauty, he may be the best of his generation, maybe an all time great.
I have seen Aaron, Mays, Rose and Chabot hit. This guy just may be better than all of them.
| Chauncy Billups | Barry Roos | Billups scored 35 points against Phoenix and his 3-pointer with 3:40 left put the Pistons ahead for good. Why can't the Celtics get players like this? Oh yeah, we did, but Coach Pitino traded him for a bucket of dogpoop and a used bag of depends. | George Mason U. | Barry Roos | UNREAL - We have not seen cahones this big since Pete Chabot got stung by a jellyfish in Florida a few years back. | George Mason U | Barry Roos | Giant effort, and the kind of game that make this a great tournament.
| Curt Gowdy | Barry Roos | The guy was a legend, with a distinctive voice and a real likable demeanor. We obviously loved him in Boston, but the thing I remember most about him was a recruiting video he did for the University of Kentucky. This was '81 and before dvds and modern equipment. They rolled out the old projector and showed us a video Gowdy made set to UK highlights. It was tremendous to watch, and even a group of 25 wise-ass freshman were glued to the film. The voice is what got your attention, he just had a way about him, you had to watch whatever he was covering. My guess is that he could have made curling seem interesting, which is quite a tribute.
Rest in peace. | Bill Cower | Barry Roos | In the age of coaching sluts like Parcells and Larry Brown who jump from team to team, you have to now give Cower his due. He has 14 years with one team and finally won the big one. Sure it wasn't the best Superbowl, but he won and deserves the recognition. | Troy Polamalu | Barry Roos | This guy is just flat out fun to watch. He gets to balls no one should come close to. He was robbed of an INT today, but his presence disrupted the Colts the whole game. He is something special, seldom seem even in the NFL. | Adam Vinatieri | Barry Roos | Adam needs just 10 points to become the Patriot's all-time leading scorer. The clutchest kicker of all time, and a class act. 'nuff said. | Ben Watson | Barry Roos | Big Ben had 2 TDs and the game winning catch. It appears the Pats will be calling number #84 quite a bit the remainder of the way.
