| Annika Sorenstam | | All Ms. Sorenstam did was go out and slap the old-boy network smack in the face while carrying herself with the grace, humility and dignity of which most of these guys could only dream.
Letdown, what letdown? She then went back to the LPGA and won the next event by 3 strokes. WOW! That's an impressive 9-day run. |
Jean-Sebastien Giguere | | J.S. was really Athlete of Last Week, but we are finally getting around to acknowledging his otherworldly performance in this year's NHL playoffs. Oh sorry, to use the proper puck language...he has been "standing on his head".
He's ONLY 12-2 (4 shutouts plus a 5-0 record in overtimes) with a 1.22 Goals Against and a .960 save %. He's ONLY propelled the 7th seeded Ducks over the defending champ Red Wings (in a sweep), and series wins over the top-seeded Stars and the upstart Wild. Does he have 4 more wins to finish off this Hollywood ending? Is this the real sequel to the original movie? Does this one co-star Emelio Estevez? Stay tuned. It starts tonight. | Jean-Sebastien Giguere | | J.S. was really Athlete of Last Week, but we are finally getting around to acknowledging his otherworldly performance in this year's NHL playoffs. Dominant at both ends of the floor.... and making people realize why he was an overall #1 in the draft 3 years ago. | Byron Scott | | Not to steel fellow columnist Peter Caplan's thunder on his "Goat of the Week" but instead of Athlete of the Week, we are going to substitute the word "Athlete" with another A-word and call the coach of the Nets simply "A of the week" for his comments about fans at the FleetCenter and more egregiously on the city of Boston itself.
